We had a great stay at this clean and bright apartment right in the heart of Bologna. Despite that the building is 1,500 years old (so we were told), the apartment is completely modernized and has been renovated to a comfortable accommodation with updated facilities.
Simone, the staff from Halldis, has been friendly and very helpful. On our first night in the apartment, the lights went out completely and we had to dine in the dark. After a few phone calls with the staff, the problem was not solved. So Simone came over right away and helped to bring the light back to us, even though it's 10 at night.
Highly recommended!"

This beautiful flat is located in a very posh building with amazing modern lift. It is located on the 5th floor,(last one). The apartment is very private and modern.
The street has plenty of shops, supermarket just 20 seconds walk away.

L'appartamento corrisponde in pieno alla descrizione ed è effettivamente ottimo per chi si vuole muovere - a piedi - per il centro di Bologna. In un attimo si arriva in piazza Maggiore e sempre in un attimo ci si allontana dalla confusione della città grazie al silenzio di cui si gode nell'appartamento, intorno al quale ci sono quasi solo uffici. La dotazione di utensili da cucina e stoviglie non è ricchissima ma a noi è bastata. Il servizio di check-in e check-out è stato efficiente e tempestivo."

"Great Location & Very Clean

The apt looks just as it does in the pictures. It's centrally located on a quiet street with a great balcony. The kitchen was stocked to do
a bit of light cooking. We ate breakfast in the apt every morning and cooked one dinner. There is a nice coop supermarket around the
corner. The apartment is extremely clean. The only negatives I would point out is the a/C could have been more powerful than it was. It
would be quite hot in the sleeping loft in the summer. It was quite warm when we were there in late May. Bring your own blow dryer.
The one provided kept overheating. (Keep in mind it is a 3rd floor walk up, which is not a problem for those who are able to do it.)

The Halldis rep met us on time for the check in. He did not show up for check out even though we confirmed this in an email.
However, it was not a problem because we left the keys on the table and the door locks when leaving the apt as well as the building.
Aside from that, dealing with the other Halldis rep was great. Attentive service. This was the first apt we have rented and I would do it
again through Halldis."

Only one disappointment: they were working on the house opposite of the street, so the beautiful balcony was without privacy and the
workman made a lot of noise. But they didn't work every day, so it was not a big problem."

This was an excellent place for two couples to stay for a short break to explore Bologna. Main dowmside is the second bedroom with its low ceiling and lack of storage space - but not a great problem for a short stay if you are prepared to stoop.

"Nice spot for a quick stay!
Spent four lovely nights in this residence with three friends while in town for a fair. It's in a great, accessible spot just off the ring road. The walk into City Centre (Piazza Maggiore) was a little bit far - about 25 minutes, but the train station is very close. There's a bus stop across the street where you can catch the #35 and be at the station in minutes! There's also a lovely little cafe right across the street with great service and delicious goods.

The apartment itself was sparse but functional. The 'sofa bed' in the kitchen/sitting room was actually quite comfortable. The shower is tiny, but the water pressure is great! There wasn't any toilet roll when we arrived, and basics like dish soap and hand soap weren't provided either. Aside from these little things, it was definitely a great stay."

"The location in the former ghetto was fascinating and climbing 62 steps to reach our apt. allowed us to enjoy the Bolognese food without weight gain. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. The small problems were taken care of or noted. The apt. was modern, light and airy and the wi-fi worked. Being near the center of town was wonderful. A month was not long enough."

"Stress free week in Bologna
We stayed a full week in this spotless, recently renovated and extremely comfortable apartment. Within easy walking distance everywhere, and fully equipped, we were able to relax and eat in after a tiring day of sightseeing! The apartment was bright and very spacious with plenty of cupboard space, the beds very comfortable. Traffic noise was at a minimum because of good sound proofing. The one drawback during our stay was the noise from the movement of furniture above us - a problem we reported to management with a recommendation to put down carpet or use felt protectors! Is it just us, or is it strange to not find hand soap in the bathroom provided? A minor point, perhaps... We would not hesitate however to return!"

"Excellent location, good service
This apartment provided all we had hoped for. It was no bigger than an average hotel room but bathroom is large. Kitchen equipment provided more than adequate for simple meals. Terrace was a real asset - direct sunshine morning to mid afternoon. Lovely view. However, plants had died and terrace dusty and unswept.
Ample hot water at all times.
Building was safe and secure, well lit safe area. Good location less than 5 minutes from centre. Several good restaurants very close, especially Cafe de Midi."

"Lovely apartment in great location

We loved our 4 months in the apartment on Via Oberdan and would recommend it enthusiastically. The apartment is light, airy and comfortable, with nicer furnishings than a typical rental apartment. There's ample storage in both the living area and the bedroom and plentiful hot water in the shower. Since the windows and French doors face a private garden, there's very little street noise and it felt very safe to leave the windows open. In general the apartment is quiet, though we did sometimes hear television noise from other apartments that also face the garden. Whenever we had a question or needed something, the staff at Halldis always responded promptly.

We found the location to be ideal. We had our choice of dozens of coffee bars, trattorias, gelaterias and shops within just a few blocks. It was a 10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore and we could walk to almost anywhere within the center of Bologna in 20 minutes or less. On the occasions when we wanted to go farther afield, there were multiple bus lines nearby. The Chiesa di San Martino is just down the street, and we loved hearing the bells from their campanile.

Two items that were of concern to us but probably wouldn't be an issue for shorter stays:
1) The washing machine is tiny. It was fine for washing small loads of clothes but was not big enough for sheets and towels. We ended up making occasional trips to the local self-service laundromat.
2)The selection of cooking utensils in the kitchen is somewhat limited. We probably cooked in more that most people and ended up buying a few cooking tools to supplement what was there (sorry, we took them with us)."

Stayed in this apartment for a long weekend with friends. Location is excellent - everything is walking distance yet in a quiet area. Apartment had everything we needed and lots of space. Definitely recommend it and cost is worthwhile for a group of 4-6 people."

"A nice place to be in the center of Bologna
We stayed here four days in juli 2010. I liked it very much because it is in the center of Bologna and we could walk to all the places we wanted to visit. It can we very hot at the top of the building were the apartment is, but fortunately there is airco, so you can keep the apartment very cool. It is small but good enough for 2 persons."

"Marvelous Malvolta
We stayed for two months at Via Malvolta, a family of four. The great thing about this apartment is it is close to a great fruit, meat market, and a coop. There are plenty of shops near by, and the bus stop is only a couple of minutes away to centro. The apartment itself has got some views of the hills, and gets a good breeze, the bathroom / laundry is big enough, and it has sky and WiFi. The only down side would be it could get rather hot in august, as there is no air conditioning, especially in the study area on the mezzanine. It could use a couple of fans for the bedrooms. Overall we had a great time there, close to some parks as well for the kids."

""Living" in Bologna
We found the apartment rental an excellent short term stay option for a week. Having access to a fully stocked kitchenette was fantastic, as was living in the heart of the city but on a quiet side street so close to the action. We have recommended Halldis rentals to the short-course organizers to provide as a future housing option for attendees to University of Bologna summer school courses.
Our check-in coordinator Simone was very flexible in our check-in time (we arrived earlier than expected) and made sure we knew the ins/outs of the apartment and it's facilities - he was also available by phone/text whenever we had questions. We would use Halldis rentals in the future and recommend it to friends/colleagues as an affordable, home-away-from-home option for travel in Europe."

"Do I Have to Leave?
By the time my stay was up and I had to return home, I had bonded with my apartment, the cafe downstairs, the newspaper stand where I got my daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the restaurants around the corner, the cinema up the way and the church bells that awakened me every morning. I felt at home in the apartment and in Bologna. The apartment was well appointed, comfortable, impeccably clean, with excellent lighting, air conditioning, wifi. Simone Tortini, my agent, was prompt, helpful, eager to make sure I was satisfied, and went the extra step when I needed help with transportation. I could not have been happier. The only downside of this particular apartment was that its second bedroom opens onto a street popular with students at night, so it was a bit noisy. However, the buildling is well insulated, with double-paned windows and shutters that keep the sound to a minimum. I am eager to return to my little neighborhood away from home."

"Best apartment so far
Well, maybe not exactly "elegant," but the apartment was clean, well-kept and more than adequate for our needs. Thought the personnel were very professional and helpful; Simone spent a great deal of time on check in to be sure everything was in good working order. Soap, kitchen towels, cutting board and reading lights in the living room would have been appreciated, but the beds were very comfortable and the patio was delightful (despite an "inside" view). Would not hesitate to book with this company again."

The location, near the university, was perfect. The apartment was in a renovated, clean and safe building with an elevator. There were sufficient kitchen utensils to cook. For two people, this is a perfect apartment. Check-in and out were made easy, which was a real plus. Everything was made easy and it was good value for the price."

Basis for my review: comparison with previous 1-3 week stays in other vacations rentals in Bologna, Rome, Paris. Positives: location -- cannot be more central; above caffé, greengrocers and steps from superb Italian "delis", main tourist sites; 20-minute walk to train station, lovely park (jogging, playgrounds); comfortable bed (twin joins into a king); clean and well-maintained; attic of medieval building, with skylights (ventilation, rooftop views, movable blinds ensure total darkness at night); exposed beams; Halldis staff in Bologna attentive and professional after small problem at check-in." So-so: no elevator (not at all a problem for us, but a long climb up -- be forewarned); kitchen needs more utensils and is devoid of basics like dish soap, salt; some noise from nearby bars until midnight; shower but no bath; furnishing functional; attic location means sloping ceilings so some leaning over in corners for tall people; kitchen would be cramped for more than two people." Negatives: no air conditioning (apt. must be hot in summer because right under the roof -- and Bologna is humid too!).

"Loved the location
The rental really was great. Loved the location and the apartment was comfortable. Main concern was the ladder to the loft. I was certain one of us was going to fall at some point during the week. I think it should be replaced with something with wider steps. This is a ladder used to climb onto a roof. Not too safe with bare feet.
Other concerns were that we ran out of toilet paper, there were no wash cloths or sponges to wash dishes and no paper towels. Those couple of items would have made the stay much more pleasant.
I started feeling like I was part of the community while staying in the apartment. The location was so great. All of the restaurants nearby were top notch and the distance to the bus stop made heading to the convention center quite easy."

"The apartment was nice and in good location. The "fully equipped"kitchen doesn't have an oven so it is partially equipped. There is a wonderful and famous Rosticceria close by where one can buy delicious food to warm up in an oven. Otherwise no other problems"

"The apartment was very nice indeed. Located on the edge of the University quarter, one was able to walk to most locations in the city centre, and when you wanted to go further, the bus service in the town was excellent. The apartment block had a very nice patisserie downstairs, which meant instant and excellent breakfast, sitting out on the patisserie terrace looking up at one's own balcony! There were several excellent restaurants and bars within minutes of the apartment, useful when you have a 4 year old who needs to get to bed quickly after an exciting meal out. The downside of being in a lively location is that the streets outside the apartment were quite noisy at night, but the soundproofing in the apartment was very good, and our sleep was not disturbed. Our little boy loved the space in the apartment, and especially the jacuzzi, which he used on three of the five nights of our stay! We sometimes found we ran out of hot water (not just because of excessive jacuzzi use), and an information pack about the apartment would have been useful. The girl who checked us in and out was very nice and helpful, but did not seem to know how all the various bits of the apartment worked. Overall, I would recommend the apartment stongly."

"Comfortable and convienent to Fiera
A spacious flat with two bedrooms and one bathroom (not two), this space is very close to the Fiera - about a 10 minute walk - as well as to the center of the city. the train station, etc. There were not a lot of glasses in the kitchen but otherwise it was well appointed. Wireless for an additional fee is well worth it for business trips. The main room is quite comfortable with couches and a large dining table. Lots of light, a little balcony off the kitchen and on a quiet street. I recommend for any business that has connection to the Fiera."

"Great apartment, fabulous location with helpful hallidas staff.
Stayed from November to late January. Family came for Christmas. Extra manchester required and supplied promptly. All had the best time. A few hiccups with wifi and power but dealt with efficiently and happily by hallidis staff and consequently had little effect on stay. Just terrific and Gamberini downstairs a must. Hopefully will come back."

"A great spot in historic Bologna
We enjoyed staying in the cozy apartment on Via Canonica. We loved the location and the building. We found the check in very convenient, and the check-in person was very helpful and prompt. We did not mind the five flights of stairs which were a very comfortable climb.
The apartment was bright and had everything we needed. We loved the convenience of the washing machine, but the door was difficult to open when the wash was completed. The floors could have been cleaner, and the bed could have been firmer."

The flat was well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The check in and check out was very efficient and done on time. There were a couple of minor problems - light bulbs and kettle - but these were quickly sorted once we had notified the agents. The location is good, just outside the city walls but only a 15 minute walk to the centre, 30 minutes to the station. Free car parking was very useful.
There are a number of small shops and 2 restaurants within 5 minutes walk and a Co-op supermarket 10 minutes walk away."

Thanks for this opportunity to provide some feedback on my recent stay in a Halldis apartment in Bologna.
The neighbourhood and apartment itself were fine.
My one suggestion would have to do with the equipping of the kitchen. The cookware and cutlery were fine, but I was surprised that there were no wine glasses (in Italy!!), and that there was neither a kettle nor a tea pot (from an English firm!!). I purchased a tea pot, which I left in the apartment.
Apart from this, I found the service to be excellent and would be happy to recommend Halldis to others.

Over the years we have rented 15 apartments for a month each in Europe .Your Belle Arti apartment was the best of them all. It is spacious, newly renovated, and in a wonderful location. The windows and shutters are amazing ! They kept out all the light and noise from the students having fun in the streets at all hours. It was fun to watch them but without the best windows and shutters ,we never would have slept.
The neighborhood is fun and full of excellent restaurants. Your colleague, Mauro De Carlo was very helpful and conscientious, as was Giacomo, who delivered the fresh linens each week.

"Magical stay in Bologna….thanks to Halldis!

An opera singer is often a vagabond, traveling from city to city, hotel room to hotel room. Most of us prefer to seek out an apartment setting when we spend more than a few days in one place. Of course, “seek” is the operative word but “finding” is an entirely different matter..

So while performing at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, I had the pleasure of staying for 15 delightful days in one of Halldis’s stellar properties. Not only was the apartment truthfully represented in the website pictures, it was far more comfortable and accommodating than I expected. Who wouldn’t love a cozy bedroom with a romantic canopy bed in a lovely robin’s egg blue, TWO bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen with serving bar, first-rate appliances (the dishwasher was a Bosch), instant heating adjustments at the touch of a fingertip, plus French doors leading to a balcony overlooking a private courtyard with glorious landscaping.

But perhaps the biggest surprise was the service. Upon arrival, I was met curbside by “Simone” – who assisted with my luggage and spent time not only explaining all the apartment’s appointments but even took the extra time to introduce me to the hippest bar in the neighborhood. But the service didn’t end there. “Mauro” arrived the next day – punctually – to replace a burned out lightbulb. He even returned several times to tweak the DVD player and provide other necessary niceties. Upon departure (reluctantly!) “Simone” was there once more to help with my bags and to call a taxi. Add to this the support of “Penelope” who responded to my every question about invoicing, payment, deposits and assured me that I would not be disappointed after making a full, non-refundable payment upfront.

The result was one of the most magical, satisfying stays imaginable. As I continue to travel and perform, I expect I shall discover other delights when I call upon Halldis in the future to provide exceptional lodging in any number of other European cities.

I may only be an opera singer but the amazing folks at Halldis made me feel like a rock star!"

"Dear Matteo and helpers,

Thank you for such a wonderful stay in Bologna. We loved the location of our studio at 3 Via degl'Angeli. I apologize for having to leave before your very competent representative arrived to receive the keys. We left both sets of keys on the dining table. I also left a list of needed supplies to make the stay even more comfortable. This list includes a wine opener, a bottle opener (for beer, etc.), matches to light the stove (the lighter that was there did not work and I left the long wooden sticks which make it easy to light with a match), salt and pepper (I filled the salt shaker but gave the box to my daughter to take to her apartment), and a new light bulb over the stove.

Other improvements over time could be a light to read by over the sofa on the wall separating the main room from the kitchen, a smaller refrigerator with the microwave sitting on top but with appropriate electrical outlets for both. This would allow an additional larger shelf or cupboard above both or even additional badly needed counter space if it fits. The present refrigerator size really is not needed and takes up unnecessary space. A self lighting stove would be a great asset when it is time to replace it. I cleaned the burners as best as I could as some of them were not able to light completely.

(...) I must say I do feel the price was still a little too much for the quality and bareness of the flat even with the wonderful location, as did my daughter who is studying at University of Bologna and is more familiar with Bologna.

All in all, Bologna is one of the most welcoming and beautiful cities I could ever imagine. I felt as though I finally found a city that fit me so perfectly! The Bolognese people are so refreshing and sincere.

We are hoping to visit again and will definitely be in touch with you when we do.

"We stayed for nearly 3 months and found the apartment in an ideal location for a stay in Bologna. The neighbours were friendly, the location lively and safe and very central. Great bus service nearby and close to a park for active children. We stayed with 3 children and it worked well for them also."
